Qatar policy interest rate

The QCB Deposit Rate is Qatar Central Bank's official overnight rate at which banks place funds with the QCB, and QCB's stated primary operating target (it manages the average overnight interbank rate, AOIR, toward the QCBDR). QCB also sets a Lending Rate (QCBLR, the overnight borrowing rate) and a Repo Rate (QCBRR, collateralised, between the two). Because the Qatari riyal is pegged to the US dollar at USD 1 = QAR 3.64, QCB moves in step with the US Federal Reserve.

What this value means

Headline served value is the QCB Deposit Rate (QCBDR) = 3.85%, QCB's designated primary operating target per its Monetary Policy Tools framework (https://www.qcb.gov.qa/en/Pages/MonetaryPolicyTools.aspx), which manages the average overnight interbank rate toward the QCBDR. Companion rates set on the same day: Lending Rate (QCBLR) 4.35%, Repo Rate (QCBRR) 4.10%. The QCBDR was cut 25bps from 4.10% to 3.85% on 10 Dec 2025, mirroring the US Federal Reserve's December 2025 cut (the QAR is pegged to the USD at 3.64, so QCB tracks the Fed rather than running an independent stance). The 10 Dec 2025 statement announced the levels without publishing a separate 'effective from' date; effective_from is set to the decision/announcement date. This followed an 18 Sep 2025 cut (QCBDR had been 4.10% from 18 Sep to 9 Dec 2025; before that 4.35% deposit from the Sep step). QCB has HELD rates at every 2026 decision to date — confirmed maintained on 28 Jan 2026 and 17 Jun 2026 (The Peninsula, reporting QCB) — so 3.85% is the level as of confirmation. Re-verify the effective date against QCB's own circular if/when the QCB site publishes the dated decision (the qcb.gov.qa framework page does not list current numeric levels).
