What this value means

NO VAT IS IN FORCE in Qatar as of 24 Jul 2026. Qatar signed the GCC Unified VAT Framework Agreement (2016/2018), which commits members to a 5% standard VAT, but Qatar has never enacted domestic VAT legislation and has repeatedly deferred rollout; no in-force rate exists to serve, hence value: null. Do NOT confuse this with the SEPARATE EXCISE TAX, which is NOT a VAT: excise tax was introduced under Law No. 25 of 2018, effective 1 January 2019, and is administered by the GTA at 100% on tobacco and energy drinks, 50%/tiered on carbonated and sweetened beverages, and 100% on 'special purpose' goods (per gta.gov.qa the sweetened-beverage element is now applied on a sugar-content tiered basis). A draft e-invoicing law was approved in May 2026 and is widely read as VAT preparation, but no VAT law had been passed at confirmation. Serve null until the GTA publishes an enacted VAT law with a rate and effective date.
