What this value means
Latest official month is JUNE 2026, released by the Department of Statistics on 23 July 2026 — one day before confirmation, so this is the freshest possible reading. Index level 116.13 (2018=100), against 115.96 in May 2026, i.e. +0.15% month-on-month. Year-on-year inflation for June 2026 was 2.79% (June 2025: 2.02%); cumulative inflation for the first half of 2026 was 2.03% against 1.98% in the same period of 2025. The value served is the INDEX LEVEL, not an inflation rate. DRIVERS (June 2026 vs June 2025): Transportation +1.27 percentage points of the 2.79%, Rents +0.76pp, Oils & Fats +0.28pp, Fuel & Lighting +0.15pp, Education +0.12pp; offset by Meat and Poultry -0.23pp and Fruits & Nuts -0.18pp. For the half-year: Rents +0.70pp, Transportation +0.43pp, Oils & Fats +0.26pp. TRAP IN THE DoS WORDING: the release says June 'recorded an increase by 0.14% ... compared to May 2026'. That is the month-on-month index move (which computes to +0.147% from 115.96 to 116.13) and NOT a change in the inflation rate — the annual rate actually EASED from 2.83% in May to 2.79% in June. Do not read the 0.14% as a rate change. CROSS-CHECK: the CBJ's own 18 June 2026 press release independently quotes inflation of 1.88% for the first five months of 2026, matching the DoS cumulative figure for May exactly. ACCESS: dos.gov.jo does not resolve from this location but dosweb.dos.gov.jo does, and the monthly PDF follows a stable pattern — https://dosweb.dos.gov.jo/DataBank/News/Inflation/<year>/CPI_<Mon>_en.pdf where <Mon> is the RELEASE month, not the reference month (the June-2026 data sits in CPI_Jul_en.pdf).
